From $30K months to a $90K December: how a Minnesota hockey brand tripled its holiday season
In hockey, a beauty is the teammate everybody wants. Loyal, respected, has your back on and off the ice, shows up with grit, and loves a good time.
That is the idea behind Beauty Status Hockey Co., a hockey apparel brand out of Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Rinks. It has been around since 2009. And in 2025, it had the biggest holiday season in its history.

Built by hockey players, for hockey players
Beauty Status calls itself The Original Knee Drag, and its tagline is Raised by Ice. Everything is designed in house by people who play the game.
You can tell. The fleece is soft and heavy with a vintage feel. The graphics are full of things any rink rat will recognize: Gordon Bombay Hockey School, Hans' Hockey Shop, Ducks Fly Together, a Lake Placid '80 Miracle hoodie, and the Ice Cold beer league line for everyone still lacing up after work.

Beyond hoodies, there are hats, beanies, rink jackets, and tees, plus custom team orders and wholesale. It is a brand for the whole hockey life: the early practices, the road tournaments, the beer league, and the pond.
The results
For years, a good holiday season meant about $30,000 in November and another $30,000 in December. Solid months, but they had become the ceiling.
In 2025, Beauty Status did roughly $140,000 across November and December. December alone came in around $90,000, about triple what founder Tom Holtzman was used to.
“Using 2025 as an example, roughly about $140,000 in revenue within those two months, November and December, 90 in December alone, tripling what I had been used to seeing prior to joining Bloom. So that was a huge win and I didn't even think it was possible.”

- December revenue went from about $30,000 to about $90,000, roughly 3x.
- November and December 2025 together came to about $140,000.
- The same two months used to bring in about $60,000 combined.
Before: throwing things at the wall
Tom has been at this a long time and has worked with plenty of people along the way. Effort was never the problem. Direction was.
Before Bloom, the business ran on instinct. Try something, see if it works, try something else. Some things hit and some didn't, and it was hard to tell why. A good month felt like luck, which made it hard to plan the next one.
“I was kind of just shooting from the hip and, you know, throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks.”

After: a defined path
What changed was not one magic ad. It was having a clear, step-by-step path, so every decision had a reason behind it.
“Now, you know, there's an actual path towards success that is defined by Bloom.”

That is the difference between a lucky season and a repeatable one. When you know what to do and when, you can push hardest in the months that matter most.

Why Q4 is where it shows up
For a hockey brand, the calendar lines up in a big way. By November the season is in full swing, rinks are packed every weekend, and then the holidays hit. Every hockey parent, player, and coach is shopping for someone who lives at the rink.
That is also when guessing gets expensive. Ad costs climb, inventory has to be right, and there is no time to figure it out on the fly. A plan built ahead of time is what turned that window into a $140,000 stretch instead of another $60,000 one.

The real win: confidence
The revenue is the headline. But what Tom talks about is how it feels to run the business now.
“It's been a huge confidence boost, not only with the brand but myself as well.”

What this means for your brand
Beauty Status already had what most brands are chasing: a real community, a clear identity, and products its customers are proud to wear. What it needed was a plan that matched.
If your holiday season has been stuck at the same number for years, the ceiling may not be your brand. It may be the guessing. Beauty Status tripled its December by replacing it with a plan.
